Tobacco 21 Campaign

Tobacco 21 Campaign

On Tuesday, May 16, 2017 the NAACP Houston Branch & College Chapters (TSU and UofH) hosted a phone banking session and urged our state representatives to pass HB 1908. At the time HB 1908 was pending in the Texas Legislature, if passed it would have raised the age for purchasing, distributing and smoking tobacco from 18 to 21. Unfortunately the bill did not pass; however for many health related reasons, we urge folks young and old not to consume tobacco or tobacco related products. Additionally, we urge all of our Houston area millennials to stay politically active and aware of various legislation that directly and indirectly affect them!
